Frilly Secrets
How long will you be on hiatus?

Oh gosh, I’m really not sure. :/ I may be posting some soon, but I won’t be too active yet.

I apologize for anyone waiting to see their’s posted.

Do you have to wear a blouse under a JSK or can you just wear a cute long/short sleeved T-shirt? On the days I don't really want to be all... 'Fancy' (?) is just a shirt okay under a JSK?

Sorry, I didn’t realize I had messages! D:

But to answer your question:

Normal shirts can look fine with lolita, but there are things to look out for.

1. Make sure whatever JSK you’re wearing it with is not too fancy. I know lolita in general is fancy, but some dresses are just plain FANCY. With those ones, it’ll look really strange if you have a casual shirt with it. Try to go for a simpler looking JSK so that it will look more natural.

2. Make sure the shirt you’re using still looks nice. It may not be a frilly blouse, but it should still match colors, fit well, and still be fairly feminine looking.

3. If it’s a t-shirt, try to find one with little rounded sleeves. It’s an easy way to compensate for a blouse but not have to go all out. It will be easier to blend. I wouldn’t suggest a t-shirt with normally cut sleeves. They tend to look too square and baggy for lolita and usually won’t look good.

Before I had an actual blouse, I had a couple plain colored t-shirts with rounded sleeves that I liked to wear with it, and it looked just fine!

4. If it’s a long-sleeved shirt, make sure the sleeves are not awkwardly loose. Also, if you want, you can wear wrist-cuffs with them to make it look frillier and be able to have them whenever you want or don’t want frills. Wrist cuffs are a super easy way to frill up your look if you don’t have an actual blouse or just don’t want to bother with one.

You can see here that Misako is wearing just a normal long-sleeved pink shirt, but it still looks really nice. It may give a bit of an otome look, but if coordinated well, it will work.

I think one thing that makes it work is that the shirt is thick and looks to be good quality. A thin, cheap looking shirt will look awkward against the dress. Like I said, you don’t want the shirt to look awkwardly casual compared to the fancy dress.

The best way to figure out if it looks good is to simply try it. Find any shirts you want to try, and go for it. Take pictures so that you can look at the full picture clearly. Usually your judgment will be a little off if you’re just looking in the mirror. Try and try again, and see what you personally like. It’s all up to exactly how casual you’d like to be.

Hope I can help a bit. o uo;;

I’m still on hiatus, but this was easy to publish.

Of course, yes! Many secrets are submitted without anonymity, but you can trust that I would never post your name or tellI what you’ve submitted.

Sorry OTL

My computer has been crashing after being on for only a few minutes, so I can’t make secrets on here. I’ll use my dad’s computer when he leaves for work in a few days. >__> <__< >___> Don’t tell on me.
